Learning a language can be hard, but it doesn't have to be.
As language learners, a lot of the time we know the grammar, we can read the language, but we don't have the confidence to actually use it, and when we're in a real-life situation, the grammar and the words don't automtically come to us.
We freeze, we sweat, and we vow never to end up in that situation again.
I know this because I also have this problem and I see it in other language learners too. People come to me saying they didn't like English at school or they don't think their pronunciation is any good, and they want to sound more professional and fluent. But the truth of the matter is, we know more than we think! The knowledge and the tools are already there.
All we need is a little practice in a safe environment free of judgment and urgency.
Little by little my students improve just by chatting with me about what they are interested in. What is happening in their lives. Their worries and stresses in the day-to-day grind. Grammar and vocabulary can be learnt with textbooks, but real life usage, fluency and confidence can only be achieved by talking with a native speaker.
Native speakers make mistakes. They use the wrong words. They use non-standard grammar. But it's real. It's authentic. And if nothing else, it gives you the permission to also make mistakes. Grammar and vocabulary are an important foundation, yes, but confidence and motivation, those are what encourage you to use the language you've learnt, which is the only way to improve and grow.
But why did I start all this in 2018?
to see my students proud to use English at work without hesitation,
to see my students realise they are not scared, but excited, to use English,
to encourage integration into society and employment,
to foster confidence and nurture growth.
This is why I teach English.
My lessons are:
safe - make mistakes! - I encourage experimentation more than being right
calm - I correct gently and not too often
student-focused - you will do most of the talking - the practice is for you!
patient - take your time to find the word - I will wait

Conversational Lessons

Gain confidence talking about anything you choose! Practice in a safe space free from judgement. A lot of teachers offer conversational lessons and then do most of the talking, but mine are different. In my lessons you do most of the talking. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun -- like talking to a friend.
I am here only to facilitate, gently correct, and make you laugh ^_^
Proofreading & Copyediting $45 NZD, €25 EUR, $26 USD/hr*
I offer proofreading for a wide range of texts: CVs & cover letters, theses & essays, books, YouTube captions...
I track changes and add comments to help you learn.
I also offer online chat proofreading sessions to act as a learning exercise.
